With the world becoming more uncertain every day, there’s one thing that we can truly rely on: television. Folks across the country are trying to decide if it is safe enough to leave the house or not. But there’s no reason to even worry about it with so many great series hitting streaming services in June. Below, we outline the top series we’d recommend checking out this month.

The Woods (Netflix) — June 19

The Woods is definitely the most interesting new series from Netflix this month. It’s based on Harlan Coben’s 2007 novel of the same name. Netflix has already had success adapting Coben’s work with The Stranger and Safe. Coben’s stories are known for their twists and turns that leave audiences in suspense. The series was shot on location in Poland and is subtitled. But considering the success that Netflix had with their hit science fiction thriller Dark, the series’ foreign language shouldn’t be a problem. This is definitely a must stream title.

Perry Mason (HBO) — June 21

If the name Perry Mason sounds familiar, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise. There are more than eighty Perry Mason novels and short stories. And the character was the titular star of a CBS series from 1957–1966. The HBO series has been announced as a limited series, staring Matthew Rhys (The Americans). Judging from the trailers, HBO has pivoted Mason from a lawyer to a detective. To complete the all-new look, the series will take place in Great Depression era Los Angeles. Perry Mason is the first big HBO series to premiere after the launch of HBO Max. So this one is definitely worth checking out.

Adventure Time: Distant Lands — BMO (HBO Max) — June 25

Adventure Time was an absolutely massive success. It ran for ten seasons, from 2010 to 2018. Series creator Pendleton Ward and his writing team balanced dense mythology and playful adventure in one amazing series over 283 episodes. So, all that said, it’s not incredibly surprising that HBO is reviving the series on HBO Max. Adventure Time: Distant Lands is a four episode series, with each episode focusing in on a different minor character from Adventure Time‘s land of Ooo. Fans of Adventure Time and folks just looking for a fun series will definitely want to tune in for Distant Lands.

Search Party (HBO Max) — June 25

Search Party got its start as a TBS series in 2016. The dark noir comedy stars Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) who finds herself at the center of a series of murders. When TBS ordered the third season in 2018, they also announced that it would be migrating the series over to HBO Max. After two and a half years off, Season 3 is finally ready to premiere with Season 4 waiting in the wings. We look forward to seeing how the already hilarious dark comedy escalates its game on the premium streaming service.
