DC Goes Digital with Teen Titans
With the success of online streaming, we see more and more content go online. Warner Bros and DC Entertainment have decided to follow suit and in 2018 are releasing their own DC brand digital streaming service with exclusive content. First in line for the new platform is Titans, a live action series surrounding the Teen Titans. Also confirmed, many fans will be pleased to hear that season 3 of Young Justice, Young Justice: Outsiders, will also be accompanying Titans at launch.
Titans will be written by Geoff Johns, Akiva Goldsman and Greg Berlanti who also produces with Sarah Schechter. Dicks Grayson’s Robin will be returning to lead the Teen Titans, and we will see the familiar Starfire and Raven as well. In addition to the fan favorites, we will get a glimpse of “soon to be” heroes from every corner of the DC universe, though it is currently unclear who they mean by that, there is definitely a deep pool to choose from.
Possibly even more exciting, the return of Young Justice was announced back in 2016 though no mention of where it would be aired. Now we have solid confirmation that in 2018. The team will be returning where they left off after Season 2. With the new streaming service that will house it, we can expect to see the same great storytelling that made the show what it was. According to the press release, “the team faces its greatest challenge yet as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetics arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy."
Ultimately these are promising first steps into the DC streaming service, and with the return of fan favorites, 2018 is looking to be an exciting year for comics on screen.
