5 Game of Thrones Spin Offs We'd Actually Watch

The First episode of Season 7 of Game of Thrones hasn't even aired yet, and programming president Casey Bloys is already talking spin-offs. While it is incredibly too early to be sure of anything at this point, Bloys has said

“I want to put the prequels in context. It should go without saying I love having a show with this much intense interest around it. Even the smallest bit of information is a big deal, and I appreciate that. But I wanted to make sure fans know this is a really embryonic process. I haven’t even seen outlines. In the press at large, everybody said, ‘there are four spinoffs’ and they assume that means each one is happening and we’re going to have a new Game of Thrones show per quarter. That’s not what’s going on. The idea is not to do four shows. The bar set by [Benioff and Weiss] is so high that my hope is to get one show that lives up to it. Also, this is a long-term plan. Our No. 1 goal is the seventh season this summer and getting the eighth season written and aired.”

So while it is still too early to have even the slightest idea of what these prequels/ spin-offs would be about, it is never too early for wild speculation. Fortunately for you, we at Nerd it Here First pride ourselves on premium wild speculation above all other forms of content, so here are 5 Game of Thrones spin-offs we'd actually watch.

5. Anything with Ser Barristan

Unless you have read the books, the name Ser Barristan Selmy probably doesn't ring a whole lot of bells. For reference I mean this guy:

While on the show he is an easily forgettable character, Ser Barristan has a long history filled with excellent content. Not regarding all the tournaments he won, as he is the champion of more than any other character, Ser Barristan got to fight on more than his fair share of battlefields and served in the Kings Guard for two different kings before the show even started. He single-handily put down the 5th Blackfyre rebellion, killing the leader known as "the monster" who had super strength.

How this show would go: Ser Barristan Selmy has a lot of similarities with Ned Stark. This show would probably play out how we all thought Game of Thrones would originally be until he got beNeded.

4. The Long Night

Much of what he know about this period in Game of Thrones History is hearsay, so a show about this time could be fascinating. The White Walkers were out; it was always dark, the dead were rising as thralls. There is a lot of active material here for a good show. It would be very different from our current Game of Thrones, but it would have an added layer of suspense. Game of Thrones daily life isn't pleasant as is, but removing all civilization would make entertaining chaos.

How this show would go: Best case scenario, The Walking Dead with swords. Well written characters would fit perfectly here, and combined with snow zombies and Game Of Thrones love of killing off people we all like would make an excellent pairing.

3. Robert's Rebellion

Not to be confused with Robert Stark's Rebellion which we saw in the show, Robert Baratheon's rebellion sets the stage for much of what we see in the show. The best part about this would be getting to see Ned Stark in his prime. Sean Bean would even survive this one to make it into Game of Thrones proper. This show would also be the perfect opportunity to showcase how incredibly talent Robert Baratheon was when it came to war. Far from the drunken womanizer, he was in the show Robert was a machine on the battlefield. He even one three separate battles in a single day with his army.

How this show would go: This show would start similar to how Game of Thrones started but would quickly evolve into a show filled with this every other week.

This show would play out like a more official sequel but have three times as many large scale battles. The downtime between fights would be filled with things like Robert hiding from an army inside a whore house. All of this ends with the Battle of the Trident and a heavy emotional scene for Jamie Lannister. A marvelous time is had by all.

2. The City of Braavos

The city of Braavos and, more specifically, The Iron Bank are the most entertaining mobsters on television. The Iron Bank is essentially a collection of merchants who gave up one life for starting the largest bank in the GOT universe. At first glance, I can understand how that isn't exciting, but they fund everything from ship captains to princes and kings. When one King can not pay them back, they replace that King for another aspiring one who will. They are the richest and most ruthless bank in all the world, and the Iron Throne, In particular, owes it a lot of money.

How this show would go: Ideally this would be The Sopranos in Westeros. Murder, embezzlement, blackmail, and espionage are all fair game. There is a lot of potentials there. And the show could have an easy time keeping things from getting repetitive.
