Sony Releases Official 'Dark Tower' Trailer

Sony Pictures has finally released the official trailer for their adaptation of Stephen King's Dark Tower book series.

The action-packed trailer features the first official footage from the film. The movie's stars, Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, each released small clips of their individual characters. The trailer out from Sony today stitches those clips into the larger narrative of the film.

King's series of novels take place over the course of a time loop, wherein The Gunslinger (Elba) chases the Man in Black (McConaughey) to try and stop him from destroying The Dark Tower. Because of the cyclical nature of the books, it remains unclear where in the book narrative the movie will take place.

Sony had announced that the trailer would be released online today. It will play on the big screen in front of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which premieres this weekend.

The Dark Tower comes to theaters August 4th.
