We Cast The MCU Fantastic Four
It’s 2022 and we officially live in a world where the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or Multiverse?) has access to the entire array of characters that fall under the Marvel umbrella. That’s hugely exciting, and even though we only got a taste of it in the new Doctor Strange movie, everyone and their mother knows with the X-Men and Spider-Man rosters comes a group of characters we’re all dying to see: The Fantastic 4.
Pop Culture Recommendations
What I’ve Been Watching: HBO’s The Staircase, has finally sunk its claws into me. I’ve seen the original French documentary (available on Netflix) about The Michael Peterson trial multiple times. For fans of that doc, the dramatization (starring Colin Firth and Jodie Foster) is a must watch.
What I’ve Been Reading: I’ve been really enjoying Sequoia Nagamatsu’s newest novel, How High We Go In The Dark. A science-fiction story born out of the novel coronavirus pandemic, it’s a fantastic novel unlike anything I’ve ever read. And it will really hit for anyone whose been living through multiple once-in-a-generation tragedies.
What I’ve Been Eating: I made my first Bob’s Burgers burger! The Summer Thyme Burger was delicious and fun to make. Grilled watermelon, thyme, rosemary, and feta combine to make a scrumshus summer time favorite.
What I’ve Been Playing: The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe Edition has been putting me through my paces just as much as the original one did back in 2013. For those who’ve never heard of it, The Stanely Parable is an incredibly subversive video game that forces the player to examine the medium. So while this game brings new graphics and new endings, it also brings new ennui. Enjoy!
What I’ve Been Listening To: Kind of cheating here but give me a break. How High We Go In The Dark has a masterful audiobook with a full-cast recording. Each chapter of the novel is from a new character’s point of view, providing a critical piece to the overall story. And the voice performers give the story enhanced life, woe, and struggle. It’s really beautiful to listen to these incredibly talented performers delivering such grippingly tragic stories.
